AIDA Cruises orders two ships from the Fincantieri shipyards


April 7, 2025 – On the occasion of the Seatrade Cruise Global cruise trade fair taking place in Miami, Florida, AIDA Cruises announces that the shipping company has been commissioned by the Italian shipyard group Fincantieri has ordered two new ships of a new generation. The identical cruise ships are said to have 2.100 guest cabins each..

In terms of size, the new buildings range between AIDAprima and AIDAcosmaAIDA Cruises promises a mix of different measures: innovative technology, optimized operations, and alternative fuels. The propulsion systems are key. Future generations of AIDA ships will use multi-fuel engines. The engines will be compatible with both LNG and, in the future, biofuels and e-fuels. More information about the new ships will be available in the coming months. Felix Eichhorn, President of AIDA Cruises, promises in advance: "Our new ships will delight not only our AIDA fans, but also countless new guests."

The order is part of the AIDA Evolution initiative. Just two months ago, the Rostock-based cruise line launched the largest fleet modernization program in the company's history with its first shipyard period. The ship, which entered service in 2007, AIDAdiva is in Marseille and is the first fleet ship to be comprehensively modernized and has just returned to service. AIDAluna and AIDAbella will follow in fall 2025 and spring 2026, respectively.

The two new ships are scheduled to enter service in spring 2030 and winter 2031/2032. Upon commissioning, the fleet will grow to 13 ships.
