Karl WP Beyer December 4, 2023 – After the end of the Summer season in the Mediterranean, Mein Schiff 5 has recently been on its way to its Asian winter quarters. Before the trip began, an appointment in the dry dock in Dubai was on the agenda. Aim of the stay: modernization and redesign.

During a twelve-day stay in dry dock Mein Schiff 5 a final shore power connection. In ports that have a shore-based shore power facility, almost emission-free ship operation is guaranteed for Mein Schiff 5. By the way: In January 2024, Mein Schiff 2 will also receive a shore power connection. Apart from Mein Schiff 3, all existing TUI Cruises fleet members will be suitable for shore power from February 2024. – A new silicone coating was also on the maintenance agenda. The paint reduces flow resistance while driving. The shipping company speaks of expected significant fuel savings. TUI Cruises sees this as an important step towards climate-neutral cruising and meeting the announced sustainability goals.
But that's not all: the Outer Alster Bar & Grill received numerous modernizations and improvements. From now on, the popular place to stay has a casual beach look. – The gallery area of Mein Schiff 5 and the workstations of the travel advisors and the shore excursion department located in the middle of the gallery were also renovated.

In the next six months, Mein Schiff will be undertaking 5 cruises in Asia. The trips from/to Singapore and from/to Hong Kong are very popular and are well booked. Following the sunny winter season in Asia, the Mein Schiff 5 returns to Crete in the summer via the United Arab Emirates, from where she sets sail on voyages lasting 7 to 14 days.
