February 19, 2024 – ““AIDA Evolution” is the name of the largest modernization program with which the Rostock cruise line wants to bring parts of its fleet up to date. As a first step, the company plans to optimize the Sphinx class ships AIDAdiva, AIDAbella and AIDAluna in 2025 and 2026.

In addition to work on the ship's technology and the systems, the focus is primarily on visual changes. The guest cabins have a completely new appearance. The range of suites is also being expanded. As previously practiced by various competitors, exclusive areas and services are planned that will primarily benefit “high-class guests”. AIDA Cruises relies on a greater variety of restaurants, selected signature bars and more service offerings. All measures that appear urgently necessary to maintain a distance from competitors.
The theatrium, typical of this ship class, is spiced up with inviting seating and a harmonious color concept. Families with children can expect new activity areas.
If such modernizations are necessary, it is not too much to ask for further investments to be made during the upcoming shipyard stays. These include measures to reduce fuel consumption, increase energy efficiency and conserve resources. The company has set a goal of reducing carbon intensity by 2019 percent by 2026 compared to 20.
