New construction of a fifth Oasis class ship has started

April 25, 2019 - Royal Caribbean, the world's second largest cruise company, has started construction of a fifth Oasis-class cruise ship. The so far unnamed ship will be a sister ship to the Symphony of the Seas, which entered service in 2018. The building yard is the French Chantiers de l'Atlantique in Saint Nazaire.

With the first steel cut, the construction of a fifth Oasis-class cruise ship officially started yesterday in Saint Nazaire on the Loire. The new building is to be delivered in 2021. Details are not yet clear. It is known, however, that the successful concept of the seven different neighborhoods of the Oasis class is also being implemented in the new building. Neighborhoods include: Central Park, Boardwalk, Royal Promenade, Pool & Sports Zone, Vitality at Sea Spa & Fitness Center, Entertainment Place, and Youth Zone.

Based on the sister ship last put into service, comparable dimensions can be assumed. The Symphony of the Seas is 363 meters long and over 60 meters wide. The number of cabins and suites on a total of 18 decks is put at 2.759. With double occupancy, this corresponds to 5.535 guests. The maximum guest volume is estimated at 6.870. 2.100 crew members take care of the passengers. You will eat in 7 included and 11 specialty restaurants.
