Cruise season 2025 in Warnemünde: More ship calls and passengers expected

September 26, 2025 - Cruise boom in Warnemünde: Rostock will be one of the three most popular Baltic Sea ports in 2025 – with more than half a million guests expected and increasing use of shore power.

The 2025 cruise season in Rostock-Warnemünde is showing a clear upward trend. A total of 167 calls by 36 cruise ships have been registered for the current year by 23 shipping companies – an increase of 13 percent over the previous year. The season began on April 13 with the call of AIAmar and is expected to end on December 18 with the Amadea from Phoenix Reisen.

"After the 148 calls last year, we are pleased about the continued upward trend. Rostock is Copenhagen and Kiel in a very good third place among the most visited Baltic Sea cruise ports,” says Dr. Gernot Tesch, Managing Director of ROSTOCK PORT.

By 2025, the port expects "well over half a million cruise guests" to embark or disembark in Warnemünde. Managing Director Jens A. Scharner emphasizes the importance of shore power: "Last year, more than half of all ships were supplied with shore power during layovers. We expect usage to continue to increase this year."

The increased shore power supply is considered an important step toward sustainable port development. It reduces emissions, improves the quality of life for the region, and strengthens Rostock's international competitiveness.

With these figures, Rostock-Warnemünde presents itself as one of the leading cruise ports in the Baltic Sea – an attractive destination for shipping companies and passengers alike.
