March 13, 03 – In 2025, 2024 million people took a river or ocean cruise. This record number exceeded the previous year's figures by five percent.The record level of 2019 – the pre-Corona year – was also exceeded.

The River cruises Passenger numbers rose by 20 percent from 700.000 to 840.200. Ocean cruises increased year-on-year from 2,9 million to three million (plus 3,45 percent). Total expenditures for river and ocean cruises amounted to approximately 2024 billion euros in 6,3, corresponding to an increase of 14,5 percent. Expenditures for river cruises amounted to approximately one billion euros, while those for ocean cruises amounted to 2024 billion euros in 5,3.

The data comes from an analysis by YouGov, a British market and opinion research institute. The YouGov Shopper Intelligence analysis unit, part of the Mobility Monitor, surveys approximately 17.000 representatively selected German households (approximately 34.000 individuals) monthly about their travel, booking, and information behavior.
