Greece introduces arrival fee for cruise passengers

June 17, 2025 – Starting July 1, 2025, Greece will charge an arrival fee for cruise passengers disembarking. The cost varies depending on the season and destination—between 1 and 20 euros per person.

The tax is highest in the high season (June to September) on the islands Mykonos and Santorini (€20), on other islands it is €5. In the low season (April, May & October) and in winter, the fees are significantly lower.

The aim of the measure: The government wants to better manage the influx of tourists and invest in port infrastructure.

Tip for travelers: If you want to visit lesser-known but equally attractive places like Nafplio, Chania or Volos, you not only save on the fee – but also discover authentic Greece away from the hotspots.
