Oceania Cruises introduces adults-only cruises

January 8, 2026 – Anyone seeking peace and quiet on board a cruise ship will now have it officially mandated by Oceania Cruises: Since January 7, 2026, the shipping company has only accepted new bookings from guests aged 18 and over.

Oceania Cruises is switching its cruise offerings to adults-only. As of January 7, 2026, only travelers aged 18 and over are permitted to make new bookings. The cruise line stated that the goal is to further enhance the "calm and sophisticated atmosphere" on board.

This rule applies to all future trips, but only to new bookings. Existing reservations made before the cut-off date, including those that include guests under 18, remain valid.

Oceania Cruises cites surveys of regular guests, travel partners, and new customers as the basis for its findings. Many travelers reportedly point to the relaxed atmosphere, the unhurried pace, and the upscale service as key reasons for their booking decisions. "Our guests have consistently told us that the tranquil atmosphere on board […] is one of the main reasons they keep coming back," explained Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer of Oceania Cruises.

What is remarkable about this move: According to the shipping company, there have been very few children and young people on board so far – Oceania is now making what was already a rare occurrence a booking rule.
