November 20, 2024 – The Cruise Gate Hamburg (CGH), a A wholly owned subsidiary of the Hamburg Port Authority AöR, it expects a total of 100 cruise ship calls next year. For comparison: 294 calls are expected for the whole of 2024.
A total of 2025 different ships from 45 shipping companies are expected in 21. The CGH is expecting three first calls. The Star Pride from Windstar Cruises, the Emerald Princess from Princess Cruises and the Pacific World from Japan Grace will fly the flag in the Port of Hamburg for the first time. A further 39 calls by river cruise ships are planned.

When presenting the figures, Simone Maraschi, Managing Director of CGH, explained that more than 30 percent of calls take place outside of the peak season. This is an indication of the passengers' continued desire to travel.
More positive news: After years of waiting, CGH expects the cruise terminal in HafenCity to be completed next year. Unlike the remote Steinwerder terminal, it is located in Hamburg's newest district, in the heart of the city. The 10.000 square meter terminal has two levels for passenger handling and two basement levels with a bus and taxi terminal. The terminal includes two berths with shore power connections.

With the opening, the number of jobs in the service sector will rise to 4.490. CGH says that cruise shipping will contribute a total of 419,7 million euros to gross value added. From 2025, the company will operate the following cruise terminals in Hamburg: Cruise Center Altona, Steinwerder, Baakenhöft and HafenCity.
