October 23, 2024 – Princess Cruises will expand its fleet of 2025 ships to include the Star Princess, the second new building of the innovative Sphere class.
The sister ship of the Sun Princess, which will enter service in February 2024, will also be equipped with a Fliquefied natural gas (LNG) propulsion, which underlines Princess Cruises' commitment to sustainability.
The 345-meter-long cruise ship is designed for approximately 4 guests. The new ship offers numerous innovations, including non-smoking casino areas, expanded dining options and new leisure facilities such as the SkyDeck sports field. Like her sister ship, the Star Princess features "The Dome" and "The Sphere". The Dome is currently the largest glass dome structure at sea. The Sphere is designed as a glass-covered piazza in the heart of the ship. The Star Princess has a total of 300 cabins, including 2 suites, 157 mini-suites and more than 80 balcony cabins.

Novelties in particular:
- Expanded Non-Smoking Casino Areas: Gaming enthusiasts who prefer a smoke-free environment can enjoy 68 additional slot machines in newly designated non-smoking areas of the casino.
- Expansion of O'Malley's Irish Pub: The popular pub, which stands for traditional Irish food, live music and a wide selection of beers and whiskeys, will have 32 additional seats.
- Expansion of Love by Britto: This exclusive restaurant, a collaboration between artist Romero Britto and chef Rudi Sodamin, will be expanded by 20 additional seats.
- New SkyDeck Sports Court and Running Track: Active guests will enjoy the new sports court for pickleball and basketball or a jogging track and shaded areas for relaxation.

The maiden voyage of the Star Princess will take place on 15 October 2025 from/to Barcelona After another Mediterranean cruise, the ship will tour the Caribbean. From spring 2026, it will fly the flag in Alaska.
