January 18, 2026 – The port of Rostock achieved a new record for cargo handling in 2025: A total of 33,1 million tons were moved across the quays in the port city. The overseas port of Rostock handled 31,3 million tons (up four percent), while the other Rostock ports – including the freight and fishing port and the chemical port – added another 1,8 million tons. This marks the third consecutive year that Rostock has handled over 30 million tons.
Rostock also saw an increase in passenger traffic: 3,2 million travelers used ferries and cruise ships in the overseas port and Warnemünde in 2025 – around 100.000 more than in the previous year. The lion's share was accounted for by ferries, with 2,6 million passengers on the Scandlines, Stena Line and TT-Line routes to Denmark and Sweden (plus 30.000).

Cruise 2025: more calls, more passengers in Warnemünde
The Warnemünde cruise port recorded a noticeable increase in 2025:
- 592.000 cruise passengers (2024: 532.000)
- 165 ship calls (2024: 148)
- 35 cruise ships (2024: 37)
- Cruise ships from 23 shipping companies were in port on 126 out of 365 days.
Regarding shore power, the port reports the following for 2025: 75 calls used the supply from the quay, with a total of 2,2 million kilowatt hours consumed.
Cruise outlook 2026: Season starts at the end of March, 162 ports of call are scheduled.
According to the port operator, the 2026 cruise season in Warnemünde will begin on March 29th with the arrival of the AIDAdiva. So far, 162 calls by 35 cruise ships from 20 shipping companies have been registered for 2026. These include 95 passenger turnaround calls and 67 transit calls.
First-time visits to Warnemünde are also scheduled for 2026:
- Evrima (Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection) – July 18th
- Scenic Eclipse II (Scenic Ocean) – August 21st
- Seven Seas Grandeur (Regent Seven Seas Cruises) – August 23rd
The season is currently expected to end on December 29th with the Spirit of Adventure (Saga Cruises).
