Karl WP Beyer January 19, 2024 – Satisfied faces at ROSTOCK PORT: For the first time in its more than 60-year history, the port achieved cargo throughput of 30,9 million tons. This is an increase of 6,5 percent compared to the last throughput record of 2022. The port's management is also satisfied with the development of the cruise business in Warnemünde.
Last year, 419.000 travelers boarded and disembarked from 130 ship calls at the Warnemünde cruise port. In 2022 there were still 294.000 passengers and 139 ship calls. The extent to which 2022 was still influenced by the consequences of the corona pandemic is not shown.
The 2024 cruise season begins on April 14th with the call of the AIDAmar. In total, cruise lines reported 146 calls from 35 cruise ships for the current year. The leading shipping company in terms of calls is - as expected - the Rostock shipping company AIDA Cruises with 69 voyage change calls. These are about the AIDAdiva and the AIDAmar.

Eight cruise ships will fly the flag for the first time in 2024 Warnemunde. They are: the Ocean Albatros by SunStone Ships on May 5th, the brand new Brilliant Lady by Virgin Voyages on May 24th, the Viking Neptune by Viking on May 31st and the Coral Princess on June 12th and the Caribbean Princess on the 4th. July. Both ships sail for Princess Cruises. The new Mein Schiff 7 is planning a first visit. She will visit Warnemünde on August 15th. Last but not least are coming on August 27th Azamara Onwards from Azamara Club Cruises and the Oceania Sirena to the Warnow estuary on September 17th.
A highlight of the 2024 season is likely to be the new edition of the “Rostock Cruise Festival” planned by the Rostock & Warnemünde Tourism Center together with shipping companies, maritime and tourism companies, the cruise network “MV Cruise Net” and ROSTOCK PORT between September 20th and 22nd, 2024. in Warnemünde.
