AIDAaura will leave the AIDA fleet in September 2023


January 5, 2023 - After more than 20 years of service, AIDA Cruises is retiring the aging AIDAaura. On this occasion, AIDA Cruises is starting a nine-month farewell season for the ship.

According to the shipping company, the cruise ship, which was christened in Rostock-Warnemünde in April 2003, has made more than 800 trips since it was christened. Almost one million guests are said to have traveled on the AIDAaura. With the farewell campaign, AIDA Cruises would like to bring the classic ship back into the memory of its fans.

AIDAaura starts on January 9, 2023 in Cape Town for the first of a total of four 14-day South Africa & Namibia voyages. This will be followed on March 6, 2023 by a 27-day ferry trip from Cape Town to Hamburg. In Hamburg, the nach begins in April Honningsvåg / North Cape leading "Great Tour of Norway". There are also two new 7-day trips from/to Hamburg to Norway's fjords and to Scotland.

From mid-May to early July 2023, AIDAaura will visit Western Europe's rivers, Great Britain, France and Ireland on various voyages from/to Hamburg. Exciting goals are Saint Malo in France, Edinburgh and near Invergordon/Scotland Loch Ness. Other destinations are Falmouth in southern England, the Orkney Islands, the Isle of Skye and the Outer Hebrides. 

In July and August 2023, the ship departs from Hamburg and Bremerhaven for 21-day cruises to Iceland and Greenland. Included in the trips are passages along the glaciers and icebergs in Prins Christian Sound or Disko Bay. 

The very last voyage of the AIDAaura will be from September 9 to 21, 2023 from/to Bremerhaven, among other things, on the Thames to Tilbury London, in France on the Seine up after Rouen or in Belgium on the Scheldt Antwerp.
