The Orient has been an integral part of the AIDA fleet program since 2006. Together with its local partners, the cruise company has turned the region into one of the most popular cruise destinations for German vacationers in the winter months. In 2018, Carnival Corporation entered into a strategic partnership with Shamal Holding with the aim of developing Dubai into the most important center for maritime tourism in the region. Also part of the agreement between the two companies was the construction of the Dubai Cruise Terminal, the new main hub for Carnival Corporation's passenger transfer and transit activities in the region. It is in the center of modern Dubai and is one of the most important Dubai attractions from within easy reach - including the Burj Al Arab, Ain Dubai, Bluewaters Island and Palm Jumeirah.

At the start of its Orient premiere season, AIDAcosma staged an exclusive on-board program like something out of an oriental dream from 1001 Nights. On Friday evening, guests were able to follow a breathtaking AIDA light show live from the deck of Ain Dubai. At 260 meters high, Ain Dubai is the tallest and largest Ferris wheel in the world. On November 19, DJ ALL FARBEN played trendy beats on board. The Berlin superstar was already on board as a special act for the christening of AIDAcosma and once again delighted the guests with his world-famous hits from the Beach Club stage.

The kick-off event was rounded off with sweet delicacies from AIDA gourmet godmother Andrea Schirmaier-Huber, oriental dance workshops with the well-known Tatiana Perez and destination-related lectures from Dorine Ali Kahn, who is particularly deeply rooted in the Arabian continent.
