September 17, 2019 - On November 30, 2019 AIDAmira will be named the 14th cruise ship in the AIDA Cruises fleet in Palma de Mallorca.The christening of the fourth AIDA Selection ship is planned as a charity event. The godmother is Franziska Knuppe. The godmother, known as a model and presenter, has experience with ship christenings: ten years ago she christened the AIDAluna.
AIDAmira is a used ship. It was built by the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire. It was delivered in June 1999. Since November 2013 it has been running under the name Costa neoRiviera for Costa Crociere.

Before being taken over into the AIDA fleet, the 216 meter long ship will be extensively rebuilt and redesigned. AIDA Cruises promise a spacious sun deck. There are also two large pools and two whirlpools. The 624 cabins include 96 suites, 80 of which have a balcony. A total of 125 cabins have a balcony or a private sundeck. AIDAmira has six restaurants and six bars. 1.100 square meters are planned for wellness and sports activities. Up to 30 different fitness and relaxation courses are offered per week. The AIDA shows, workshops, readings, lectures and cooking events offer a wide range of entertainment on board. Lecturers accompany the Selection trips. AIDAmira will start its first voyage on December 4, 2019 Palma de Mallorca.
Manuel Pannzek was appointed captain of the AIDAmira. Captain Pannzek has been on the AIDA Selection ships since 2017.
In its first season, AIDAmira is calling at destinations in southern Africa. The start and destination port of the 14-day voyages is Cape Town. Other ports are Durban, East London and the small town of Lüderitz in Namibia. Stops lasting several days are planned in Cape Town and in Walvis Bay in Namibia. - Between May and September 2020, AIDAmira will sail from Corfu on a new butterfly route in the eastern Mediterranean. Stand on a route Athens, Santorini, Crete and Brindisi in Apulia on the program. The destinations of the other route are Malta, Sicily, Crotone in Calabria, Katakolon/ Olympia and Kefalonia. Both routes can be combined into a 14-day trip.
