Caribbean cruise Mein Schiff 1 - Severe setback for TUI Cruises

December 04, 2020 - The effects of Corona on the cruise industry are terrifying. Royal Caribbean is considering extending the lay offs. NCL and its brand subsidiaries are suspending cruises for an extended period of time. Costa cancels Christmas and New Year cruises. TUI Cruises and their guests are hit hard. The planned 35-day Caribbean voyage of Mein Schiff 1 is canceled.

It could have been so nice: TUI Cruises offered a 35-day trip with Mein Schiff 1 to the Caribbean over Christmas and New Year. On a private island, the guests could have spent nine days of carefree island vacation. The journey with that special Caribbean feeling should start and end in Germany. The plan was to offer new offers with workshops and performances by guest artists tailored to the length of the trip. Festive menus on December 24th and 31st should make the cruise a unique experience.

Those who are used to reading between the lines missed an important part of the travel offer: the departure and destination ports. We were talking about a port in Germany. It is now clear that, despite the tried and tested hygiene measures taken by TUI Cruises, no northern German port is ready to allow my ship 1 to leave and enter. Therefore the trip was canceled. As a consolation, TUI Cruises recommends that the booked travelers go on one three-week Canary Islands cruise to evade. There are still places available for this trip.

TUI Cruises informs booked guests as follows: Due to the current infection situation, the federal and state governments have agreed to extend the corona measures until January 10, 2021. All German ports had therefore decided to refuse the planned departure in December. It is unbelievable!
