Carnival Cruise Line announces two additions to the fleet

November 09, 2022 – The Carnival Cruise Line fleet currently comprises 23 ships. In keeping with the company's 50th anniversary, two more ships have joined the fleet. They are the Carnival Celebration and the Carnival Luminosa.

Carnival Celebration, a sister ship to Mardi Gras, which entered service in 2020, is a brand new ship. It was built by the MEYER Turku shipyard. It is the second ship of the so-called Excel class. The ship, which has 2.687 cabins, is powered by environmentally friendly liquefied natural gas (LNG). The ship is tailored to the needs of American vacationers. It has two main and various specialty restaurants as well as a variety of lounges and bars. The three-story atrium with floor-to-ceiling windows will delight ship guests, as will the BOLT roller coaster, first introduced at Mardi Gras. The ship will sail from its home port of Port Miami to Caribbean destinations in the inaugural season starting in November 2022.

The second newcomer was put into operation by sister company Costa Crociere in May 2009. This ship offers 2.260 cabins. After it was handed over to Carnival, it was "completely renewed" to meet the needs of the American clientele in particular, but its "Mediterranean" flair was not lost. The 294 meter long cruise ship undertakes cruises from Brisbane along the Australian coast, to New Zealand and to the South Pacific islands. During the summer months of 2023, it will be used for Alaska voyages departing from Seattle.

For the years 2023 and 2024, two more ships, the Costa Venezia and the Costa Firenze, will join the Carnival fleet. The ship names change, the Mediterranean flair remains. To protect this, Carnival has developed the term "Carnival Fun Italian Style".
