January 31, 2020 - The first steel cut was traditionally done in the production hallsthe shipyard Chantiers de l'Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire / France started the construction of the third cruise ship of the Celebrity Edge class. The ship is called Celebrity Beyond. The completion and delivery of the new building are scheduled for autumn 2021.
The steel cut took place in the presence of Richard D. Fain, Chairman and CEO, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (RCCL); Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, President and CEO, Celebrity Cruises; Harry Kulovaara, Executive Vice President, Maritime and Newbuilding, RCCL and Laurent Castaing, General Manager, Chantiers de l'Atlantique.

In a short statement, Richard D. Fain stated: "We look forward to continuing the success of our innovative Edge class with Celebrity Beyond". Ms. Lutoff-Perlo added: "With every additional sister ship from Celebrity Edge, we are further developing the cruise experience with new highlights on board and we are welcoming another sister ship with the start of construction of Celebrity Beyond".
The completion and delivery date of the Celebrity Beyond is scheduled for autumn next year. In April of this year, the sister ship Celebrity Apex will cease its premiere voyage Southampton, Great Britain. Read more about it under Celebrity Cruises - the new Celebrity Apex comes in sight.
With the two newbuildings, the four expedition ships and a ship of the Edge class that is currently being planned, the fleet comprises 17 ships.
