Costa Crociere uses social media for online campaign

June 4, 2020 - Starting today, Costa Crociere is going online with a new digital brand campaign on all digital channels of the cruise line in its six major European markets. The campaign is under the motto: "The vacation we miss".

Social media are becoming increasingly important in the marketing of the cruise industry. Costa Crociere is launching a new advertising campaign under the motto: "The vacation we miss". It shows the cruise vacation and its most beautiful moments from the perspective of Costa guests. The content of the international brand campaign includes photos and videos from life on board to the discovery of travel destinations or the sunsets that are experienced from the perspective of the ship. The aim is to keep memories alive and to develop anticipation for the coming times and to awaken the longing for the sea.

Costa Crociere explains in a press release on the campaign: “The photos and videos of these special moments were collected by our guests both on Costa's social channels such as Facebook and with the support of bloggers and fan clubs. … We have received more than 6.000 photos, comments and videos from guests from all over the world who, like us, can hardly wait for the anchor to lift ”.

The campaign is running in Costa's main markets of Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It lasts until the next departure of the Costa ships. The core of the campaign is a video made up of various user-generated content. The slogan "The vacation we miss" is expanded by the hashtags #derurlaubdenwirvermissen, #baldwiederleinenlos and # wiederaufsee, which Costa has been using on its social media since March.

In addition to the video launched on all Costa channels (social, direct marketing and trade channels), there is a "holiday wall" on the Costa website. This offers space for all incoming contributions. A constantly updated place of longing is planned for and by the guests of the Shipping company: https://www.costakreuzfahrten.de/der-urlaub-den-wir-vermissen.html. A few days earlier, Oceania Cruises launched a similar campaign.
