July 03, 2020 - Like the daughter like the mother. Yesterday, AIDA Cruises extended the business interruption caused by COVID-19 until August 31, 2020. Today Costa Crociere is following suit. The Italians announce a renewed extension of the break in operation until August 15th, 2020.
Costa announced today that all scheduled cruises will be suspended until August 15, 2020. The company is also announcing the cancellation of all cruises in Northern Europe for the remainder of the 2020 summer season. The cruise line justifies its decision with the uncertainty about the gradual reopening of ports for cruise ships and the associated restrictions in connection with the global COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time it is announced that all future cruises on the Costa Victoria will be canceled. According to rumors, the aging ship is to be scrapped in Piombino, Italy.
Costa will inform the travel agencies and the guests concerned about the upcoming changes as soon as possible. In this context, applicable legal provisions are observed. The protection of guests according to German travel law is guaranteed and has the highest priority. The shipping company assures that in the meantime it will work with all relevant authorities to define and adopt health measures and protocols for a prompt restart of the cruises.
