Cunard Line: The fourth and newest ship is called Queen Anne

February 8, 2022 – Cunard Line has just announced the name of its fourth ship. The new building is named "Queen Anne". The 249th ship in the history of the shipping company will set off on its maiden voyage in early 2024. The good news for Cunard Line fans: The travel program for their inaugural season can be booked from May 2022.

“We have been setting standards and redefining them time and time again for over 180 years. We were the first to offer regular transatlantic passage. We were the first to send a ship on a voyage around the world. Traveling with us has been, and continues to be, the original sea voyage experience and characterized by style and elegance.” This is the full-bodied statement in a current newsletter from the premium shipping company. And further: "Queen Anne will form a remarkable quartet alongside Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth".

Queen Anne uses the popular and distinctive areas of the Cunard fleet. The cruise line promises new experiences in the fields of food, culture and entertainment. Well-known designers have developed a ship that "makes the difference and reinterprets the travel experience".

Finding a name was a long process. British historian Kate Williams assisted the Cunard team in developing various options. Queen Anne lived from 1665 to 1714. The historian and the Cunard team describe the queen as an inspirational woman who was greatly loved by her people. It matters little that "Wikipedia" paints a different picture.

According to Cunard Line, the ship bridges the gap between tradition and contemporary luxury. Queen Anne has been under construction since October 11, 2019 by the Fincantieri shipyard in Castellammare di Stabia, Italy. What takes a long time will undoubtedly be good.
