October 8, 2019 - The Discovery Princess is currently the last of six ships in the Royal Class series. With the new build, which will make its debut in November 2021, the Princess Cruises, part of the Carnival Group, will complete the successful series. Discovery Princess spends the launch season in the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and South America.
Discovery Princess is the sixth and last of the 330-meter-long ships in the Royal Class category. We described one of the ships that Majestic Princess, on the occasion of their journey from Triest to Civitavecchia. The Discovery Princess is built by the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone near Trieste. Royal Class ships offer space for 3.500 to 3.660 passengers.

Before the Discovery Princess goes into service, the sister ships Sky Princess and Enchanted Princess put into service. The Sky Princess starts in October 2019. The Sky Princess will be followed by the Enchanted Princess in June 2020.
The route planning for the opening season of the Discovery Princess has already been set. It comprises 30 departures with 21 routes to more than 50 destinations in 23 countries. The new building will debut on November 3, 2021 as part of a week-long Mediterranean and Aegean cruise from Civitavecchia near Rome to Piraeus / Athens. - In December 2021, the Discovery Princess will be sailing in the Caribbean and will be the first ship in the fleet to call at Tortola Island. - January and February 2022 are all about South America. Then the new flagship will head for 22 ports in eleven countries on the continent. In metropolises like Rio Buenos Aires or Lima, overnight stays are planned.

The trips beginning in March 2022 also promise excitement. From the new home port of Los Angeles, voyages of different lengths along the US west coast and the Mexican Riviera are made. Stays include Cabo San Lucas, San Diego as well San Francisco. From October 8th, 2019, all trips with this ship must be booked.
The Royal Class ships will be followed by cruise ships powered by LNG liquid gas in 2023 and 2025. These are designed for a total of 4.400 passengers.
