February 2, 2022 - As of January 28, the Princess Cruises fleet consists of 15 ships. On this day, the cruise line belonging to the Carnival Group took delivery of the sixth newbuild of the Royal Class, the “Discovery Princess”..
The ship was built by the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy Triest. The 330 meter long ship can accommodate 3.660 passengers with double occupancy. According to the shipping company, 1.346 crew members ensure the safety and well-being of the ship's guests. Like her sister ships (Royal Princess, Regal Princess, Majestic Princess, Sky Princess and Enchanted Princess), the new build offers exceptional style and luxury. The outstanding features of the premium ship include the Sky Suites with the largest balconies at sea, the ultimate wellness comfort The Sanctuary or numerous outstanding restaurants. Cruise Turtle had the opportunity to test the Majestic Princess on her first cruise. We reported about the qualities and special features of the ship class under Majestic Princess.

In times of pandemics, an often less-perceived element like the Medallion Class is appreciated. A "wearable" (the "medallion") on board ensures, among other things, contactless embarkation, contactless opening of the cabin door or the delivery of food and drinks to any location on the ship. It goes without saying that the Discovery Princess is equipped with this technology.
After the takeover, the Discovery Princess sets course for Los Angeles. From there she cruises along the coast of California and the Mexican Riviera between March 27th and April 24th. Then she moves to Seattle, the largest city in the Northwest of the USA. Seattle is the departure point for week-long Alaskan cruises May 8 through September 11.
