Karl WP Beyer February 8, 2025 – It is done. Yesterday, the Italian Fincantieri shipyard officially handed over the first new build of the so-called InTUItion ship class to TUI Cruises board members Wybcke Meier and Frank Kuhlmann.
Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises, explained in this context: "With the Mein Schiff Relax, we are today opening a completely new chapter in the field of premium cruises. We would like to thank the shipyard and everyone involved for working with our teams to create this ship, which takes 'experience well-being anew' to a new level."
What innovations does Mein Schiff Relax offer cruise enthusiasts?
- There are new and even more opportunities available to retreat to architecturally spectacular oases of well-being for relaxation.
- An even more diverse culinary journey through particularly high-quality worlds of enjoyment.
- When it comes to cabins and suites, the new ship class caters even more to the needs of travelers. For the first time, Mein Schiff Relax – like ships from other premium providers – offers solo travelers inside, outside and balcony cabins.
- The suites and the closed area for suite guests on Mein Schiff Relax have been relocated to a new location at the stern of the ship. As usual, there are a number of junior suites, beautiful views and wanderlust suites; there are also far-sighted suites and (for the first time) two "Great Freedom Suites". These extend over two decks and have a large terrace.
- Spa and wellness areas are being redefined. One of the new features is the exclusive barrel sauna on deck 19. TUI Cruises promises perfect relaxation with fantastic views. And another new feature: the exclusive cold chamber for cryotherapy treatments. With temperatures of up to -110 degrees, it supports regeneration, weight loss or improvement of the skin structure.
- Guests are also promised high-class entertainment and worlds of experience. One such restaurant is the Asian restaurant Fugu with a digital atmosphere. The dishes are prepared by star chef Tim Raue.

Major technical innovations
The Mein Schiff Relax is equipped with dual fuel engines. These are powered by liquid gas and, in the future, also by low-emission and climate-friendly bio- and E-LNG. The technology is a big step towards climate-neutral cruising. In addition, the Mein Schiff Relax is equipped with improved catalysts (nitrogen oxide reduction to Euro 6 standard) and a shore power connection.
Hydro-Treat waste treatment is also new: In the case of organic waste, the liquid parts of the biological waste are separated using heat and pressure and fed into the ship's own wastewater treatment plant. The end result is purified wastewater at the level of the most modern sewage treatment plants on land. The solid parts of the waste are converted into so-called BioChar. In agriculture, the product is used, for example, to improve the soil or as a feed additive.
