October 28, 2021 - News from Hurtigruten: The market research company YouGov and the business and financial newspaper Handelsblatt determine the Germans' most popular brands every year. In the current year, the respondents put Hurtigruten in first place in the cruises sector for the fifth time in a row. On top of that: Hurtigruten Expeditions gives first insights into the 2023/24 season.

For the 2023/24 season, the traditional Norwegian mail ship line is planning a larger selection of expedition trips than ever before. Destinations include Antarctica, the Arctic and the Northwest Passage.

  • In 2023/24, three Hurtigruten ships will visit Antarctica, the British overseas territories of the Falkland Islands and South Georgia. The total of 34 expeditions last between 10 and 23 days. Several 16-day expedition voyages venture into the wilderness of the Antarctic Ocean.
  • Three ships travel the Northwest Passage. The plan is for the hybrid expedition ships MS Roald Amundsen and MS Fridtjof Nansen to cross the passage simultaneously in opposite directions and meet in the middle.
  • New expedition voyages for Alaska will also be announced in 2023/24. The Spitsbergen Archipelago with the arctic Svalbard is also on the program. In 1896, Hurtigruten Expeditions undertook its first expedition trips in the Spitsbergen Archipelago.
  • Highlights of the Hurtigruten Expeditions Program 2023/24 are eight complete circumnavigations of the island of Iceland as well as expedition voyages to the east and west coasts of Greenland and the Chilean fjords.

A large expedition team is on board on all Hurtigruten Expeditions trips. The teams are put together specifically for each trip and destination. In addition, the expedition equipment on the ships is being increased. The company reports strong and sustained demand for all planned destinations. The booking numbers are at pre-Corona levels. The shipping company expects the positive booking trend to continue for the current and next season. The result: Due to the positive response and many fully booked trips, Hurtigruten is expanding the range of Hamburg departures.
