June 14, 2022 - For its 130th anniversary, the traditional Norwegian mail line Hurtigruten is delighting its fans with two special travel destinations. That renovated Hurtigruten mail ship MS Trollfjord sails on the "Hurtigruten Spitsbergen Line" and the "Hurtigruten North Cape Line". The shipping company sees the route guidance as a good opportunity to experience the Norwegian coast in a new way.
Hurtigruten has been connecting the ports of the Norwegian coast since 1893. The mail boats provide postal services, deliver important goods to remote places and let travelers discover Norway's nature, landscape and cuisine. With two adapted routes, travelers get to know Norway's coast anew. The sea voyages include longer port visits, improved excursion options and an optimized culinary offer.

The shipping company provides the following background information on both routes:
Hurtigruten Spitsbergen Line one of Norway's most legendary sea routes is reinstated. Post ships sailed the route between 1968 and 1982. The routing affects the Lofoten, Vesterålen on Sortland and that North Cape. The ship then sails to Longyearbyen on Spitsbergen. Longyearbyen is the northernmost inhabited city in the world. The journey takes 16 days. Travel dates start from June 3, 2023.
The Hurtigruten North Cape Line starts in Norway's capital Oslo. It touches the southernmost and northernmost points of Norway. For the first time, a Hurtigruten ship will call in and out of Oslo regularly. The route leads through the impressive landscapes of the Hardangerfjord and includes new ports in southern Norway. The North Cape line will be used for the first time on September 26, 2023.
Oslo - New Opera House
Hurtigruten operates the voyages on MS Trollfjord. Christened in 2002, the 136-meter-long mail ship will be extensively renovated in the first half of 2023. It gets a new cabin design in a Scandinavian style. The restaurants are enlarged and embellished. After the renovation work, the à la carte restaurant will be more than twice as large as before. The passenger capacity in scheduled services is estimated at 822. 309 beds are available in 646 cabins. The ship has a wellness area with gym and sauna.
