December 21, 2022 - On Tuesday evening in the Kaiserdock II of the Bremerhaven Lloyd shipyard, the ambience of the English Ambassador Cruise Line expected. Christened in 1991, the aging cruise ship requires short-term repairs to the lifeboat mounts before it can on January 5, 2023 from Tilbury/England on a 42-night cruise to the Caribbean.
The cruise ship, which looks out of date, was ordered by the Sitmar shipping company. The British P&O entered the contract. After completion in 1991, the ship was put into service under the name Regal Princess at the subsidiary Princess Cruises. After the cruise business of the P&O shipping company was transferred to Carnival Corporation & plc, the ship was passed on to P&O Cruises Australia. There it was given the name Pacific Dawn. In 2019, Carnival sold the Pacific Dawn to a company that wanted to use it as a livestock ship. After the plans could not be realized, the British cruise line CMV intended to take over the ship. CMV was well known in Germany as the charterer of the MS Astor from TransOcean. When the parent company of CMV was forced to file for bankruptcy due to the consequences of the corona pandemic, the takeover failed. Parts of the CMV management founded the Ambassador Cruise Line, which has been operating Ambience and Ambition since April 2022.

The Ambience is a 70.285 ton ship. Its bed capacity is limited to a maximum of 1.400 guests. The cruise ship has 798 cabins, 23 percent of which have balconies. Before the takeover, the 245 meter long ship was adapted by a Croatian shipyard to the needs of English "crusaders". The repairs at Lloyd Werft are unexpected and will continue over the Christmas period. A fifteen-day trip scheduled for December 21 has been cancelled. The shipyard is requested to complete the repairs at short notice so that a cruise scheduled for January 5, 2023 can start. A 42-night cruise to the Caribbean and back runs from Tilbury near London.
