MEYER Werft hands over Disney Treasure to Disney Cruise Line

October 25, 2024 – Yesterday, six days before the originally planned date, the Disney Cruise Line took over the new build of the Disney Treasure from the Papenburg MEYER shipyard. The fleet expansion will start in December 2024 with cruises.

The Disney Treasure is the fourth ship that the shipyard has built for the Florida-based company. Another ship, the Disney Destiny, is currently under construction. The shipping company has ordered four more ships from the Papenburg shipyard for the period between 2027 and 2031. According to the shipyard, the Disney Treasure has the most complex and innovative entertainment facilities in the cruise industry.

As you would expect from a Disney cruise ship, families aboard Disney Treasure will experience new adventures with imaginative plots inspired by Disney's rich portfolio of stories. To name a few: a theatrical restaurant inspired by Pixar's "Coco," a Broadway adaptation of the Walt Disney Animation Studios film "Moana," and an all-new selection of Disney Parks-inspired adult lounges, including the first-ever Haunted Mansion-themed bar.
