MSC Cruises – MSC Euribia christened in Copenhagen yesterday

June 9, 2023 - The MSC Euribia was christened yesterday in front of a distinguished audience in Copenhagen. Godmother for the 19th time was the Italian actress Sophia Loren. The 88-year-old film icon holds the world record for ship christenings. The Swiss cruise line's second LNG-powered cruise ship was christened at Copenhagen's Oceankaj.

MSC Euribia is a colossus. The ship is measured at 184.011 GT. The number of cabins and suites is estimated at 2.419. With double occupancy, that would correspond to 4.838 passengers. In fact, the maximum number of guests is given as 6.327. 1.711 crew members work on board the ship for the well-being of the guests. The new MSC flagship is 331 meters long and 43 meters wide.

The ship is named after the ancient goddess Eurybia. MSC Euribia is currently powered by LNG. The fuel is currently considered the cleanest and most efficient fuel in the world. Other technical features are modern environmental technologies, advanced water treatment systems, measures to increase energy efficiency (underwater ship!) or innovative underwater noise protection systems.

The 112 meter long, covered "Galleria" promenade, which is lined with numerous boutiques, bars and restaurants, is of great visual appeal. The Ocean Cay AquaPark also promises fun. The five pool areas can accommodate more than 1.000 guests. The main pool is 1.700 square feet. MSC cruise ships are family ships: the children's and youth area is 700 square meters. The young crusaders enjoy fun and entertainment in seven areas. The ship has ten different dining options, including five specialty restaurants. In total, MSC Euribia offers 21 bars and lounges.

The hull painting is unusual for MSC ships. It symbolizes MSC Cruises' commitment to the sea. According to the statement by the shipping company, it stands for the diverse commitment of MSC Cruises to the marine ecosystem.
