September 17, 2022 | MSC Cruises today officially took delivery of its new flagship, MSC Seascape. It is the largest cruise ship ever built in Italy.

The handover took place in the presence of Gianluigi Aponte, the shipowner, founder and CEO of the MSC Group. Also present were Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of MSC Cruises, Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO of Fincantieri, as well as officials, dignitaries and key travel agency and media partners. During the ceremony, a tribute to centuries-old maritime tradition, Cristiano Bazzara, director of the Fincantieri shipyard, presented Roberto Leotta, captain of the MSC Seascape, with a bottle containing the water that first touched the ship's hull when it first hit the ship earlier this year was launched.
On December 7, 2022, MSC Seascape will be christened in New York at a star-studded ceremony that brings MSC Cruises' distinctive European style and glamor to the Big Apple. From here, the voyage will depart for Miami, where the ship will be positioned for its first season in the Caribbean. She is the second Seaside EVO Class ship in the MSC Cruises fleet and the fourth ship in the highly innovative Seaside Class, which has redefined Caribbean cruising since MSC Seaside was christened in Miami in 2017. With exciting entertainment offerings, the latest technology and all the popular onboard amenities that make Seaside Class so special, MSC Seascape promises unique voyages for guests.

MSC Seascape offers two different 7-night itineraries from Miami to the sun-kissed Caribbean:

Eastern Caribbean: The ship makes stops at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve and in Nassau in the Bahamas, San Juan in Puerto Rico and Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic.
Western Caribbean: The route's ports are Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Cozumel in Mexico, George Town in the Cayman Islands and Ocho Rios in Jamaica.

MSC Seascape's environmental technologies

The ship is equipped with the latest environmental technologies. This includes Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems on each of the four Wärtsilä 14V 46F engines, which reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by up to 90 percent by converting the gas into harmless nitrogen and water. The MSC Seascape's hybrid emission control system removes 98 percent of sulfur oxides from emissions.

The ship is equipped with best-in-class wastewater treatment plants, with cleaning standards exceeding those of most land-based wastewater treatment plants. It also boasts advanced waste management systems, US Coast Guard-approved ballast water treatment plants, state-of-the-art engine room oil spill prevention solutions, and various effective energy efficiency improvements – from heat recovery to energy-saving LED lighting.

The ship is equipped with an underwater noise control system to minimize the effects of vibration on sea creatures.
