Karl WP Beyer May 2, 2023 – How time flies. On May 11, 2018, beach volleyball Olympic champions Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst christened the new build of Mein Schiff 1 in Hamburg. Almost five years later, routine maintenance work on Mein Schiff 17 was scheduled in the traditional Elbe 1 dock of the Hamburg shipyard Blohm + Voss.
From April 21 to May 2, 2023 Mein Schiff 1 within sight of the Hamburg Landungsbrücken in the dock of the Blohm + Voss shipyard. Before embarking on a nine-day Norway voyage from Bremerhaven today, the 316-metre-long cruise ship has undergone numerous modernizations and redesigns. A major improvement is the shore power connection. As the third ship after Mein Schiff 4 and Mein Schiff 6 Mein Schiff 1 now also has a shore power connection. Half of the TUI Cruises fleet, currently consisting of six ships, is equipped with zero-emission shore power devices. Received in November of this year and in January 2024 Mein Schiff 5 and Mein Schiff 2 also shore power connections.

The waste water treatment plant also received an improvement. The upgrade will make it possible in future to comply with the strict limit values for phosphate and nitrate in wastewater that have been enacted for the Baltic Sea region. Mein Schiff 1 was given a new coat of silicone while it was in the dockyard. This reduces the flow resistance under water while driving. In connection with this measure, the shipping company speaks of significant fuel savings and emission reductions. - The time in the dry dock was also used for beautification work. The Ebbe & Flut - Bier Bar shines in new splendor: It invites you to visit in industrial design, with numerous wood and copper elements. In this context, TUI Cruises is cooperating with the Hamburger Ratsherrn brewery. In the future, the focus will be on regionally brewed beers. In addition to beer, Mein Schiff 1 offers its guests a North German-style menu in the Ebbe & Flut – Bier Bar.

During the summer season, Mein Schiff 1 undertakes departures Bremerhaven trips towards Norway on various routes. Away Warnemunde tours it in the Baltic Sea. In autumn, Mein Schiff 1 sets course for the Canary Islands to spend the winter season there.
