Mein Schiff 2 NEW visited the port of Hamburg

January 26, 2019 - Yesterday, Mein Schiff 2 NEW came to Hamburg's port from Kiel. TUI Cruises' sixth new building moored at the Steinwerder cruise terminal under the command of Captain Kjell Holm. From the outside, the cruise ship is the same as the new Mein Schiff 1. The differences are only in the equipment..

The new building is largely similar to the sister ship Mein Schiff 2018, which was commissioned in 1. The dimensions: 316 meters long and 35,80 meters wide. The number of cabins and suites should be back at 1.447. The ship offers 12 restaurants and bistros as well as 15 bars and lounges. With the use of the most modern technologies, the Hamburg shipping company sets standards in terms of energy efficiency and environmental friendliness.

As already on the new Mein Schiff 1, a desulfurization system, a so-called hybrid scrubber, and catalysts are used. Their task is to reduce nitrogen oxides. The scrubber is operated in the more environmentally friendly, closed mode for a long time. Less washing water and chemicals are required for cleaning. All auxiliary and main machines are equipped with catalytic converters. In the case of the older fleet members, this only applied to the small engine units. The soot particles in the exhaust gases are effectively minimized by a desulfurization system.

During the subsequent welcome trips, the Canary Islands and Madeira are called several times on different routes. The new building spends the summer on various routes in the Mediterranean. In October the ship moves to the Caribbean.

Interesting on the side: As with all previous first calls by ships of the Mein Schiff fleet in Hamburg, Captain Kjell Holm led the ship.
