February 25, 2025 – Almost ten years ago, Mein Schiff 4 was put into service. Shortly before its tenth birthday, the Mein Schiff 4 underwent a comprehensive renovation in Dubai. The work involved optical and technical improvements. The latter were necessary to make the ship even more sustainable.
The ship received its makeover in Dubai. You read that right: Dubai is not only the land of superlatives and big business, in Dubai they also get things done properly. At least when it comes to a cruise ship that needs maintenance.

During the 14-day stay in the shipyard, extensive renovations were carried out in the public areas of the ship. Part of the measures concerned the visual enhancement of the Mein Schiff 4. A total of 9.000 square meters of carpeting were replaced in the stairwells, the main restaurant Atlantik, the Schaubar and in numerous other places. 800 square meters of new floor tiles were laid in the buffet restaurant. The 25-meter pool and the Jacuzzis were extensively sanded down and repainted. Since the renovation, the sauna area has also been shining in new splendor. The steam sauna has been modernized.
In terms of technology, Mein Schiff received 4 new, hydrodynamically optimized propellers. The new propellers are made of a copper-nickel alloy and are cast in one piece. This significantly reduces water resistance. In addition, a so-called rotary end cap channels the propeller outflow, preventing braking turbulence in the water. Both measures promise fuel savings of four to seven percent. The entire underwater hull was also given a new coat of paint. 12.960 liters of paint were used for this.
