Singapore, is a prosperous, extremely clean and well-organized island and city-state. The mini-state in the south of Malaysia has almost six million inhabitants. Singapore's central location in Asia, its world-class flight connections and port infrastructure make the country a major cruise hub in Southeast Asia. Following the suspension of sea voyages from March 2020 due to the pandemic, Singapore was one of the first countries in Southeast Asia, along with Malaysia and Indonesia, to restart cruise operations.

The Singapore Tourism Board believes that Singapore's cruise sector will return to pre-pandemic levels between 2023 and 2024. The fly cruise segment is a key tourism growth area that will see a strong recovery as Singapore opens up and port calls resume. Before the pandemic, 70 percent of cruise ship passengers in Singapore were international visitors. They chose Singapore as a base for cruises in Southeast Asia.
