June 7, 2024 – Cruise companies have long preferred to deliver travel documents in digital form. Oceania Cruises takes the opposite approach and prefers to send the ship's documents by post.
The premium shipping company – the “best cuisine on the high seas” – believes it is important to send its guests the Cruise Vacation Guide 60 to 70 days before their embarkation date. The latter consists of a personal cover letter, a welcome brochure with general information about the booked trip and a detailed deck description of the ship. The shipment also includes four reusable personalized luggage tags.
Frank A. Del Rio, President of Oceania Cruises, is quoted as saying about the seemingly out-of-date move: “It is important to us that guests traveling with Oceania Cruises enjoy a seamlessly personal experience from booking to their return home. While most other shipping companies are switching completely to digital, we are responding to our guests' preference for haptic documents while also offering digital versions upon request." However, shore excursions are excluded from this procedure. From now on, guests can only find a brochure with an overview of shore excursions and booking options virtually on the Oceania Cruises website.
