March 21, 2023 – Today the first of a total of 85 steel blocks was dry docked at the MEYER shipyard in Turku, Finland. With the placement of the steel block and the symbolic coin ceremony, the new construction of Mein Schiff 7 was officially started in the presence of representatives of the shipping company and Meyer Werft.

The commissioning of Mein Schiff 7 is planned for the coming year. Ms Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises, can be quoted as follows on the new building project: "With the keel laying of Mein Schiff 7, we are continuing the expansion of our feel-good fleet and are asserting our position with the most modern fleet on the German market". In addition to Mein Schiff 7, two other newbuilds have been commissioned and will be delivered up to and including 2026. After the Mein Schiff 7 and the two additional units have been commissioned, the bed capacity of all fleet members will be almost 27.000 beds (based on two-bed occupancy).
With the commissioning of the Mein Schiff 7, TUI Cruises has reached an important milestone towards climate-neutral cruises. Like the sister ships Mein Schiff 1 and Mein Schiff 2, the new ship is dedicated to environmental protection: Instead of heavy fuel oil, Mein Schiff 7 is operated with low-emission marine diesel (sulphur content: 0,1%), is equipped with catalytic converters (nitrogen oxide reduction: around 75%) and a shore power connection.

My ship 7 is also set up to run on methanol as an alternative fuel. Viewed in perspective, “green” methanol would produce almost COXNUMX in ship propulsion2-make neutral. From TUI Cruises' point of view, the methanol drive would be a significant investment in the future and a contribution to climate-neutral cruises. Efficient waste processing is used on board. As far as this topic is concerned, Mein Schiff 7 will be equipped with an innovative system that shreds organic waste through thermal treatment and prepares it for further use on land.
