Karl WP Beyer August 19, 2022 – The Hamburg Cruise Days will take place from August 19 to 21, 2022. After the previous forced break caused by the pandemic, visitors this year are experiencing for the eighth time Emotions on land and at sea. As in previous years, the focus of interest is on the Blue Port Hamburg light art work. During the three-day event, five ships will visit the Hanseatic city. The star guest is the Queen Mary 2 (QM2), the "Queen of the Seas".

The event program includes atmospheric productions on the Elbe as well as presentations by individual shipping companies. Extensive gastronomic offers are just as important as music and dancing. This year the event area is between the Landungsbrücken forecourt and the Kehrwiederspitze.
Between August 19th and 21st, five ships will fly their flag in the port of Hamburg. Today, August 19, the Queen Mary 2 left Hamburg for the 75th time. AIDA Cruises is represented as a premium partner of the event with the ships AIDAprima and AIDAsol. The MSC Magnifica and the hybrid expedition ship MS Otto Sverdrup from Hurtigruten will also be presented.

Queen Mary 2 gave the go-ahead for the light show this Friday evening. At around 20:00pm, the ocean liner moved up the Elbe from the Steinwerder cruise terminal to the Elbphilharmonie. After a spectacular turning manoeuvre, the ship moved into position in front of the concert hall. After a signal from the ship's typhoon, the Blue Port light show started at around 21:15. Queen Mary 2 and dozens of buildings, bridges, etc. were bathed in blue light. The events were accompanied by classical music. After a second signal from the Typhon, Queen Mary 2 set course for New York. From 20:22pm on August 35, the AIDAprima and the MSC Magnifica will also be staged in a multimedia way with lights, drones and music.
