October 26, 2021 - The summer cruise season in Rostock-Warnemünde officially ends on October 26th with the arrival of the AIDAsol. Three more cruise ship visits are planned for November and December. Including the stragglers, a total of 47 cruise ships visited the Baltic Sea port in the current year.

The management of the ROSTOCK PORT, the cruise terminals are part of the Rostock port, faced two challenges in 2021. It was the implementation of safe and smooth processes in the passenger port of Warnemünde under the COVID-19 pandemic conditions and the commissioning of the shore power system. The latter is used to supply the cruise ships with environmentally friendly and sustainable energy while they are in port. Although the 47 calls by cruise ships do not meet the expectations of the administration and the capabilities of the Warnemünder Terminal, the ROSTOCK PORT is pleased about the successful restart of the cruise. From today's perspective, the company sees itself well prepared for the 2022 cruise season.

As far as the shore power system of the cruise ships at the Warnemünder Passenger Quay is concerned, it began regular operations on May 10, 2021. At berths P7 and P8, two cruise ships can use electricity from renewable sources at the same time. Unfortunately, only the AIDAsol was the only cruise ship to use the shore power system in the 2021 season. Successful synchronization tests also took place with the cruise ship AIDAprima . The continuous use of shore power systems for all cruise ships calling at Warnemünde will probably be a long time coming.
