The new addition will be the first ship in the Mein Schiff fleet to be powered exclusively by low-emission marine diesel (sulfur content max. 0,1 percent). As with the previous new ships, the ship is equipped with catalysts (nitrogen oxide reduction: around 75 percent) and a shore power connection. With regard to Mein Schiff 7, the shipping company is considering the use of methanol - preferably "green" methanol - in the future. The technical component for the methanol drive in four-stroke engines is currently being developed. The use of LNG - liquefied natural gas - would have required a different ship concept.

Other innovations include more efficient waste processing on board the ship. Overall, TUI Cruises is preparing its ships for low-emission cruises.

The ship's christening was accompanied by music, dancing and acrobatics, fireworks and other surprises. The invited guests and more than 1.000 paying guests were able to attend "a trip to seventh heaven", the motto of the christening party. The christening was followed by a well-staged pool party. In order to put the ship in the perfect visual setting, the shipping company had the curtains of the cabins opened between 7pm and midnight and the cabin lights fully lit. It goes without saying that TUI Cruises spoiled the ship's guests with a glass of champagne and selected delicacies in the Anckelmannsplatz buffet restaurant.

Finally, some photo impressions of the restaurant and bar areas as well as the people who were present on the christening evening.
