Karl WP Beyer October 6th, 2022 – Today, after an eleven-day stay in the shipyard in Hamburg, Mein Schiff 3 sets off on an eight-day voyage to Mallorca. The trip was preceded by a renovation in the Elbe 17 dry dock at Blohm & Voss. In addition to general technical maintenance work, the ship experienced a few notable innovations and improvements.
Routine maintenance work on machines and ship technology was carried out at the Hamburg shipyard Blohm & Voss within eleven days. As before Mein Schiff 6 owns now Mein Schiff 3 an ultrasonic antifouling technology on the complete seawater cooling system. A new type of technology uses ultrasonic waves to prevent the formation of a biofilm. The technology used to date on container ships and tankers around the world ensures that all liquid-carrying surfaces remain free of marine growth and biological deposits. This development is crucial for the preservation of the local ecosystems. Otherwise, due to the marine growth, there is a risk that invasive organisms will be introduced into foreign ecosystems and threaten them.
Regular TUI Cruises customers will notice major changes on the 4th deck. The “Grööne Bar” was created in the immediate vicinity of the theatre. Gröön" is Low German and means "green". The bar area informs guests about the sustainability of the Mein Schiff fleet. Quote: "The unique origami trees and lounge music with natural sounds take the guest on the high seas to a forest clearing." The carpet is laid made from recycled materials, and wooden figures were carved from old half-timbered beams.To all of this, a specially created Grööne bar drink was created with "Grööndezvous".

Other innovations: More than 600 square meters of hand-made floor tiles with a Mediterranean flair were laid in the Anckelmannsplatz buffet restaurant. Furthermore, the X sundeck has been significantly enlarged. From now on, guests can enjoy an unobstructed view of the sea and the pool. The popular indoor pool was given the ambience of an adventure oasis thanks to new tiles in wood decor, elegant lounge furniture and generous planting.
