TUI Cruises: resumption of cruises in summer

TUI Cruises: resumption of cruises in summer

June 17, 2020- The TUI Group, the world's leading tourism group, has expressed its opinion on the resumption of activities in submarkets in Europe. The company also comments on its cruise activities in this context. The main player, TUI Cruises, will start as soon as possible with short cruises in the North and Baltic Seas.

After the introduction of comprehensive health and safety regulations on board the ships, the company is thinking of gradually starting cruises. Three or four-day TUI Cruises cruises start from German ports and lead to the North and Baltic Seas. TUI Cruises- Ships will initially operate with reduced capacities. A maximum of 1.000 passengers per ship can be assumed. In a second phase, longer cruises would again be included in the program.

The following "improved" processes are planned on board TUI Cruises ships:

  • Increased hygiene measures on board
  • Health status questionnaires, screening prior to entry (both for employees and guests, e.g. temperature measurements, staggered entry)
  • A maximum of ten children in each of the kids' clubs
  • Limited number of guests in the theaters, spa and fitness areas
  • No self-service restaurants

  • The group brand Hapag-Lloyd Cruises is planning to return to regular operations in the summer. The British Marella Cruises, ex Thomson, will follow later in accordance with the easing measures made by the British government.
