Six medium-sized cruise lines are currently sailing under the flag of Oceania Cruises. The premium cruise brand offers classic cruises with elegant medium-sized ships. Culinary experiences, stylish entertainment and more than 370 popular cruise destinations delight passengers.
Within the Oceania fleet, a distinction is made between the ships Regatta- and the Oceania class. Oceania Marina is a 66.000-ton Oceania-class cruise ship.
Oceania Marina in the port of Montevideo
The predominantly English-speaking guests experience instead appealing ship proportions, stylish, luxurious furnishings and excellent cuisine. The well-equipped cabins and suites offer enough space and a feel-good atmosphere even in the lowest category. The generously dimensioned public rooms deserve special mention. Dark wood, Italian marble, granite, fine carpets and soft leather give travelers a sense of comfort and luxury. If you weren't at sea, you could feel as if you were in a classy country club.
The ship is equipped with a large number of attractive art objects by well-known artists. On request, the art objects can be explained to the guests during a tour. If you like, you can do it like in a museum and borrow a headset on board in order to receive explanations about the art on display.
The route planning often includes visits to attractive, smaller ports. Overnight stays or late evening departures also guarantee longer land programs than usual.
The Oceania Marina has 625 cabins and suites. Most of them have their own teak decked veranda. The balcony quota is an incredible 95 percent.
The cabin equipment generally gives the impression of elegance; the bathroom, the living room / bedroom and the terrace look like a single piece. The guest feels comfortable in this ambience. The cabin service includes the fact that the non-alcoholic drinks offered in the minibars and the water when going ashore are included in the tour price.
The cabins in detail:
Something better than the three optimally guessed Owners suites does not exist on the marina. They each measure more than 185 square meters and extend over the entire width of the ship. The equipment comes from the collection Ralph Lauren Home. These suites include a large living room, a sleeping area with a king-size bed, two walk-in closets, indoor and outdoor spa areas, each with a whirlpool, and an impressive entrance area with music room. It goes without saying that residents of this suite category also enjoy a host of additional privileges.
Also in the Vista suites the guests should feel comfortable. Depending on the location, they "only" offer between 112 and 139 square meters of space. But that's enough to make you feel good. In addition to the separate living and sleeping areas, they are equipped with large walk-in closets, a second guest bathroom, indoor and outdoor spa areas, each with a whirlpool and its own fitness room. These suites were designed by the New York designer Dakota Jackson.
Twelve Oceania suites are available on board the marina. The 92 square meter space was also designed by Dakota Jackson. A living room, a dining room, a fully equipped media room (!), A large walk-in closet, a king-size bed, a large private veranda, indoor and outdoor spa areas with a whirlpool and a second bathroom for guests are part of the basic equipment.
The elegant Penthouse suites measure only 39 square meters. They have a dining table, a separate seating area, a large bathtub / shower, a walk-in closet and a private veranda. Compared to the aforementioned categories, the range of other services is somewhat limited; it is still breathtaking compared to other ships.
All suites have a round the clock Butler service required. The butlers are "handpicked". To entertain the suite guests in the upper categories, they must even be able to play the piano.
Veranda cabins with concierge level service
Suite guests are likely to feel a bit cramped in these cabins. Joe Average, on the other hand, should enjoy the nicely furnished, 26 square meter cabins. They have been designed to be luxurious. A private veranda is part of the basic equipment as well as a comfortable seating area, a minibar and a large bathroom. It is equipped with marble and granite paneling, a large bathtub / shower and a separate shower. Guests get access to the private Concierge Loungewhere magazines, newspapers, drinks and snacks are offered to them.
Simple veranda cabins
Oceania Cruises emphasizes that the 26 square meter cabins are considered the largest ship cabins with verandas in the industry. Features include a comfortable seating area, a minibar, a spacious wardrobe and a bathroom with marble and granite paneling, a bathtub / shower and a separate shower. The attentions that are usual in the higher cabin classes are, however, significantly reduced.
Oceania Marina - veranda cabin
Outside cabins without balcony
The size of the 20 outside cabins is 22,50 square meters each. Compared to standard cabins on modern large ships, the size is still considerable. Ceiling-high panoramic windows mark the cabin category. No savings were made on the size of the seating area and there is even a breakfast table for the restless. The design of the bathrooms was taken over from the veranda cabins.
The 14 inside cabins are only 16,20 square meters. They are well designed and well equipped. They are the best offer that the shipping company can offer thrifty people. Even a variable breakfast table still fits in the cabin.
Food and drink on board
The largest "Upper Premium Cruise Line" in the world advertises the "finest cuisine on cruise ships". Jacques Pépin, French master chef, book author and TV celebrity who works in the USA played a major role in this. As Culinary Director of Oceania Cruises he inspires the kitchen brigades of the ships to achieve creative top performances. From our own experience we can say: The dishes couldn't be better prepared and they taste great.
Grand Dining Room
There are a total of six restaurants on board the marina: there is service in five restaurants, one is run as a buffet area. Most of the restaurants are themed restaurants. The dinners basically include free choice of seats without fixed table times. There are no surcharges. An internal key ensures that all guests can visit the restaurants presented below at least once a week. Guests who particularly like a restaurant can return to the restaurant if they are flexible in terms of time and after consulting the maître.
There is a saying that “eats with your eyes”. At the marina, this applies to both the decoration and presentation of the dishes and the tableware used. The individual restaurants are equipped with high-quality, themed services. For example, im Toscana restaurant Dishes in Versace design Use.
Guests can enjoy unlimited soft drinks, bottled mineral water, cappuccino, espresso, teas and juices with their meals. - Every single dish is prepared à la minute. This practice is a characteristic of fine dining. Only experienced cooks and waiter can provide such service.
The Grand Dining Room - Deck 6
The elegant and medium-sized restaurant on the aft deck, open at all table times, is the focus of the culinary events on board. Guests can enjoy continental cuisine there. The dinners in Grand Dining Room comprise at least ten different starters, soups and salads as well as twelve different main courses.

Terrace Café Buffet Restaurant - Deck 12
The buffet restaurant on the aft ship is casual and informal. The guests are offered casual breakfasts, lunches and dinners in a lavish ambience inside and out. If the necessary buffet area with the prepared dishes and the freshness stations did not exist, the guests could imagine themselves in a service restaurant.
Terrace café-buffet restaurant
In the morning and at noon it goes in Terrace Café rather relaxed too. In the case of Oceania Cruises, this means that the guest makes a selection and the dishes are served on plates by the staff. In the evening, the Waiter serve the meal prepared according to your wishes.
Polo Grill - Deck 14
The Polo Grill lies aft to starboard. The atmosphere is comfortable and dignified. in the Polo Grill guests enjoy steaks, chops and seafood.

Noble, elegant furnishings, porcelain from Versace and Italian specialties are the hallmarks of the Tuscany. aft to port.
Waves Grill - Deck 12
The Waves Grill is a superbly designed outdoor grill. You can find it on the pool deck on the starboard side. American classics are on offer at lunchtime: burgers, barbecues and fish. It should be noted: The meat of the Beef Burger comes from Kobe beef. In the afternoons, snacks are served at the Waves Grill.

It is hidden between the Polo Grill and the Toscana Restaurant private. The elegant chambre séparée can be booked in the evening at a flat rate of 100 US dollars per person for an exclusive dinner with up to 10 guests.
Oceania Marina - Privée
Guests who would like to have their dinner in the suite or cabin are free of charge Zimmerservice are available.
The chairs of the restaurants
On many of the cruise ships known to us, we are often not satisfied with the quality of the seating furniture. Often the impression arises that design beats function. The marina is not free from such peculiarities either. The chairs in the main restaurant are too low; this leads to a bad posture. In the Red Ginger the chairs look chic; otherwise they are uncomfortable. We didn't sit comfortably in the outdoor area of La Reserve or on the armchairs of the Privée. But: We sat very well in all other areas.
The range of bars and lounges is as diverse as the tastes of the guests. We move from the lower to the upper decks in our presentation.
Marina Lounge - Deck 5
The universally usable one is located in the front of the ship Theater lounge. It is the center of evening entertainment. More details about the show program follow under the heading Entertainment. The spacious lounge is less like a theater on cruise ships. It should be noted that the rear rows of seats are arranged higher than the front rows. The legroom is also remarkable. It tempts even 1,90-meter men to slouch. Next to each armchair there is a pull-out table for placing drinks. Of course, good stage technology was also provided.
Rows of seats in the Marina Lounge
Grand Bar - Deck 6
The opulently furnished Grand Bar was placed on starboard behind the on-board casino.
Casino Bar - Deck 6
The name is program. It is on port near the casino. Picasso lithographs and pictures by Joan Miró serve as wall decorations.
Martinis - deck 6
At the Upper Hall, the beautiful atrium, that's what guests think Martinis. The bar was styled as a posh English gentlemen's club. The name is an obligation, the bartenders are good at preparing various martinis. Live piano music plays in the background.
Waves Bar - Deck 12
Between the Culinary Center and the pool area is the open one Waves bar. It was placed in the shaded area next to the pool.
Baristas - Deck 14
The Baristas coffee bar is in front of the on-board library and the Internet area. Visitors look out over the pool and sun deck below. In the baristas, illy® espresso and coffee as well as fresh pastries are served.
Horizons - deck 15
This extends to the fore section horizons across the entire width of the ship. The elegant Observation Lounge offers floor-to-ceiling windows and the ambience of a 5 * hotel. It is a suitable place to dream in the day or to enjoy passing coastal landscapes. In the evening the lounge is transformed into a night club.
Horizons Lounge bar
Although the Oceania Marina is not an English ship, the tradition of "tea time" is still important. At 16pm the horizons traditionally served mini sandwiches, petits fours, scones with clotted cream and delicious desserts.
Concierge and Executive Lounges
On deck 9, in the forward part of the ship, there is the one reserved for “noble passengers” Concierge Lounge. The even nobler one Executive Lounge of the suite guests was also set up inside on the 11th deck, the bridge deck.
The menu and bar menus offer a large selection of drinks. As on all US ships, the price level is extremely ambitious.
Beers cost a minimum of $ 7. “Wine by Glasses” costs a minimum of 10 US dollars. There is also a service charge. Wine packages available on board include seven bottles priced at $ 47,50 per bottle. The service fees are already included in this price. An exclusive drinks package that includes all branded alcoholic beverages is offered for $ 48 per day per person.
Sport & Wellness
For Sport and Wellness Decks 12, 14, 15 and 16 are used. The main focus is on the exclusively designed SPA. Acts as a SPA operator Canyon Ranch, the Tucson, Arizona-based health resort operator. Canyon Ranch SPA facilities are available for cruise guests on all Oceania ships, the ships of the Oceania sister brand Regent seven seas, which Queen Mary 2 and on ships of the Celebrity Cruises.
The CanyonRanch SPA Club
The one embedded in the SPA area on the 14th deck to starboard fitness center is, in our opinion, equipped with the most modern equipment. In addition to the equipment activities, a wide range of courses for B. aerobics, Pilates or yoga are offered.
Canyon Ranch's business model is based on healthy living and spiritual awareness. The SPA operator claims to provide the perfect SPA treatment and a top-class feel-good experience. Are offered u. a. various steam rooms, massages, stays in the "sanctuary" or at and in the private whirlpool. Concierge level and suite guests are granted unlimited free access to the private SPA terrace of the wellness area.
A medium sized, heated one pool with comfortable steps leading into the water, two whirlpools and generously sized sunbathing areas with excellent sun loungers are available for guests on deck 12.
The short one is on the 15th deck aft Jogging track. In between there is still space for the small one Croquet field, Shuffleboard sowie den Boccia area.
Guests from Paddle tennis or Golf Can't help but train on the 16th, the top deck of the marina. That's next door 9 hole mini golf Putting green. The deck area offers additional sun spots within reach.
Paddle tennis cage and mini golf
The center of on-board entertainment is the Marina lounge. On the 5th deck, high-quality show productions are offered in the forward part of the ship. Since the takeover of Oceania and Regent through Norwegian Cruise Line Oceania participates significantly in the highly acclaimed entertainment of the NCL. Show concepts and artists are exchanged between the shipping companies.
Marina Lounge stage
The other entertainment on offer is varied. Trivia quizzes, dance lessons, lecturer readings and more are offered daily. Creative guests take part in the Artist Loft (Pool deck 12) in art and handicraft courses organized by artists. Bookworms visit the English-style Librarywhose holdings include around 2.000 volumes.
The one arranged in the Monte Carlo style Board casino is located on deck 6. It offers games of chance at tables and machines.
Is it still culinary or is it already about entertainment? Guests can stay in the ultra-modern Culinary Center Take different cooking courses on the 12th deck. In these courses nothing is presented, but cooking is practiced under supervision (“hands on”). The cooking courses are titled, among other things, with: “Amore Italiano”, “At Home in Sicily”, “Bundles of Love” or “Cuban Family Table”. In addition, the ship's cooks at exclusive Culinary Discovery Tours be accompanied when shopping at regional markets on land.
Anyone on board not from Internet likes to have internet access around the clock on deck 14. We counted more than 20 jobs. The passengers in the upper cabin categories generally receive free, time-limited internet packages or even unlimited free access. Guests of the Owners, Vista and Oceania Suites will even have an iPad at their disposal for the duration of the cruise, if available. Oceania Cruises also offers free internet use as part of special promotions.
We don't want to forget the three boutiques either. They offer duty-free cosmetics, jewelry, watches, Oceania logo products, clothing, and everyday items. The boutiques are some of the most elegant we know on board cruise ships.

The ships of the cruise brand Oceania fill the narrow niche between premium cruise ships and ships of the luxury class. In our opinion, we see the marina in particular positioned in the class of luxury providers.
However, it should be noted that the marina is not a family ship. The partly exemplary childcare facilities on other ships are completely lacking. Instead, the marina is a distinguished, international ship for high-quality travel to selected destinations. In contrast to well-known German and Italian cruise brands, you hardly run the risk of meeting your unloved neighbor or colleague on board.
The ship impresses with its attractive exterior design. In the interior, the noble, valuable design, art objects and the generous space are impressive. Each guest has more than 40 m² of space in the public areas. Nowhere is there a feeling of tightness.
Art in the stairwell
As for the clothing recommendations: the evening wear of the women, the tuxedo, the dinner jacket and the patent leather shoes of the men stay at home. Instead, what falls under “sporty, chic fashion” is trendy.
Country club feeling
Although the number of guests from Germany is small in relation to the English-speaking holidaymakers, the shipping company advertises polyglot German customers who appreciate high levels of comfort. Knowledge of the English language is certainly a great advantage for communication. A lack of English language skills is made up for by German-language menus in the restaurants, a German-language on-board program and German contact persons on board the ship.
We liked the Oceania Marina very much. We recommend testing the ship.
