Oceania Marina

Oceania Marina

Six medium-sized cruise lines are currently sailing under the flag of Oceania Cruises. The premium cruise brand offers classic cruises with elegant medium-sized ships. Culinary experiences, stylish entertainment and more than 370 popular cruise destinations delight passengers.

Within the Oceania fleet, a distinction is made between the ships Regatta and the Oceania class. Oceania Marina is a 66.000-ton Oceania-class cruise ship.

The predominantly English-speaking guests experience instead appealing ship proportions, stylish, luxurious furnishings and excellent cuisine. The well-equipped cabins and suites offer enough space and a feel-good atmosphere even in the lowest category. The generously dimensioned public rooms deserve special mention. Dark wood, Italian marble, granite, fine carpets and soft leather give travelers a sense of comfort and luxury. If you weren't at sea, you could feel as if you were in a classy country club.

The ship is equipped with a large number of attractive art objects by well-known artists. On request, the art objects can be explained to the guests during a tour. If you like, you can do it like in a museum and borrow a headset on board in order to receive explanations about the art on display.

The route planning often includes visits to attractive, smaller ports. Overnight stays or late evening departures also guarantee longer land programs than usual.

Staterooms

The Oceania Marina has 625 cabins and suites. Most of them have their own teak decked veranda. The balcony quota is an incredible 95 percent.

The cabin equipment generally gives the impression of elegance; the bathroom, the living room / bedroom and the terrace look like a single piece. The guest feels comfortable in this ambience. The cabin service includes the fact that the non-alcoholic drinks offered in the minibars and the water when going ashore are included in the tour price.

The cabins in detail:

Owners suites

Something better than the three optimally guessed Owners suites does not exist on the marina. They each measure more than 185 square meters and extend over the entire width of the ship. The equipment comes from the collection Ralph Lauren Home. These suites include a large living room, a sleeping area with a king-size bed, two walk-in closets, indoor and outdoor spa areas, each with a whirlpool, and an impressive entrance area with music room. It goes without saying that residents of this suite category also enjoy a host of additional privileges.

Vista suites

Also in the Vista suites the guests should feel comfortable. Depending on the location, they "only" offer between 112 and 139 square meters of space. But that's enough to make you feel good. In addition to the separate living and sleeping areas, they are equipped with large walk-in closets, a second guest bathroom, indoor and outdoor spa areas, each with a whirlpool and its own fitness room. These suites were designed by the New York designer Dakota Jackson.

Oceania suites

Twelve Oceania suites are available on board the marina. The 92 square meter space was also designed by Dakota Jackson. A living room, a dining room, a fully equipped media room (!), A large walk-in closet, a king-size bed, a large private veranda, indoor and outdoor spa areas with a whirlpool and a second bathroom for guests are part of the basic equipment.

Penthouse suites

The elegant Penthouse suites measure only 39 square meters. They have a dining table, a separate seating area, a large bathtub / shower, a walk-in closet and a private veranda. Compared to the aforementioned categories, the range of other services is somewhat limited; it is still breathtaking compared to other ships.

All suites have a round the clock Butler service required. The butlers are "handpicked". To entertain the suite guests in the upper categories, they must even be able to play the piano.

Veranda cabins with concierge level service

Suite guests are likely to feel a bit cramped in these cabins. Joe Average, on the other hand, should enjoy the nicely furnished, 26 square meter cabins. They have been designed to be luxurious. A private veranda is part of the basic equipment as well as a comfortable seating area, a minibar and a large bathroom. It is equipped with marble and granite paneling, a large bathtub / shower and a separate shower. Guests get access to the private Concierge Loungewhere magazines, newspapers, drinks and snacks are offered to them.

Simple veranda cabins

Oceania Cruises emphasizes that the 26 square meter cabins are considered the largest ship cabins with verandas in the industry. Features include a comfortable seating area, a minibar, a spacious wardrobe and a bathroom with marble and granite paneling, a bathtub / shower and a separate shower. The attentions that are usual in the higher cabin classes are, however, significantly reduced.

Outside cabins without balcony

The size of the 20 outside cabins is 22,50 square meters each. Compared to standard cabins on modern large ships, the size is still considerable. Ceiling-high panoramic windows mark the cabin category. No savings were made on the size of the seating area and there is even a breakfast table for the restless. The design of the bathrooms was taken over from the veranda cabins.

Inside cabins

The 14 inside cabins are only 16,20 square meters. They are well designed and well equipped. They are the best offer that the shipping company can offer thrifty people. Even a variable breakfast table still fits in the cabin.

Food and drink on board

The largest "Upper Premium Cruise Line" in the world advertises the "finest cuisine on cruise ships". Jacques Pépin, French master chef, book author and TV celebrity who works in the USA played a major role in this. As Culinary Director of Oceania Cruises he inspires the kitchen brigades of the ships to achieve creative top performances. From our own experience we can say: The dishes couldn't be better prepared and they taste great.

Grand Dining Room

Grand Dining Room

There are a total of six restaurants on board the marina: there is service in five restaurants, one is run as a buffet area. Most of the restaurants are themed restaurants. The dinners basically include free choice of seats without fixed table times. There are no surcharges. An internal key ensures that all guests can visit the restaurants presented below at least once a week. Guests who particularly like a restaurant can return to the restaurant if they are flexible in terms of time and after consulting the maître.

There is a saying that “eats with your eyes”. At the marina, this applies to both the decoration and presentation of the dishes and the tableware used. The individual restaurants are equipped with high-quality, themed services. For example, im Toscana restaurant Dishes in Versace design Use.

The chairs of the restaurants

On many of the cruise ships known to us, we are often not satisfied with the quality of the seating furniture. Often the impression arises that design beats function. The marina is not free from such peculiarities either. The chairs in the main restaurant are too low; this leads to a bad posture. In the Red Ginger the chairs look chic; otherwise they are uncomfortable. We didn't sit comfortably in the outdoor area of La Reserve or on the armchairs of the Privée. But: We sat very well in all other areas.

Bars

The range of bars and lounges is as diverse as the tastes of the guests. We move from the lower to the upper decks in our presentation.

Marina Lounge - Deck 5

The universally usable one is located in the front of the ship Theater lounge. It is the center of evening entertainment. More details about the show program follow under the heading Entertainment. The spacious lounge is less like a theater on cruise ships. It should be noted that the rear rows of seats are arranged higher than the front rows. The legroom is also remarkable. It tempts even 1,90-meter men to slouch. Next to each armchair there is a pull-out table for placing drinks. Of course, good stage technology was also provided.

Oceania Cruises also offers free internet use as part of special promotions.

Current position Oceania Marina

Conclusion

The ships of the cruise brand Oceania fill the narrow niche between premium cruise ships and ships of the luxury class. In our opinion, we see the marina in particular positioned in the class of luxury providers.

However, it should be noted that the marina is not a family ship. The partly exemplary childcare facilities on other ships are completely lacking. Instead, the marina is a distinguished, international ship for high-quality travel to selected destinations. In contrast to well-known German and Italian cruise brands, you hardly run the risk of meeting your unloved neighbor or colleague on board.

The ship impresses with its attractive exterior design. In the interior, the noble, valuable design, art objects and the generous space are impressive. Each guest has more than 40 m² of space in the public areas. Nowhere is there a feeling of tightness.

Art in the stairwell

Art in the stairwell

As for the clothing recommendations: the evening wear of the women, the tuxedo, the dinner jacket and the patent leather shoes of the men stay at home. Instead, what falls under “sporty, chic fashion” is trendy.

Country club feeling

Country club feeling

Although the number of guests from Germany is small in relation to the English-speaking holidaymakers, the shipping company advertises polyglot German customers who appreciate high levels of comfort. Knowledge of the English language is certainly a great advantage for communication. A lack of English language skills is made up for by German-language menus in the restaurants, a German-language on-board program and German contact persons on board the ship.

We liked the Oceania Marina very much. We recommend testing the ship.
