Flight delay - missed cruise

The Brandenburg consumer center recently pointed out the above facts. On the occasion of the strike of the cabin crew at Lufthansa, the legal situation should be reminded once again.

If a vacationer misses their cruise because of a delayed flight, the airline must pay for the damage incurred. This also applies to hotel bookings that cannot be made due to the delay. This is how it is regulated in the Montreal Convention. The agreement regulates liability issues in international civil aviation. - The airline does not have to pay if it is itself a victim of force majeure. Force majeure exists, for example, in the event of a natural disaster.

If two flights have been booked with different companies and the connecting flight is not reached due to the delayed first flight, the first airline must pay for the damage.

In such cases, it is important that the travelers confirm the connections. There are flight delays, additional hotel stays or additional costs for onward transport.
