February 09, 2020 -Tonight the new Mein Schiff 2 was christened in Lisbon in front of almost 3000 guests and many onlookers. The godmother of the latest TUI Cruises new building is Carolyn Niemczyk, singer of the electro-pop band Glasperlenspiel. The christening ceremony was followed by fireworks and a performance by the band on the pool deck.
On February 3, the new left Mein Schiff 2 Bremerhaven with course to Las Palmas / Gran Canaria. The new building is in Lisbon for three days. The capital of Portugal is not only one of the most beautiful cities in Western Europe, but also a suitable setting for a ship christening.

In front of the two-storey, almost 2.300-meter-long suspension bridge "Ponte 25 de Abril" and under the Cristo Rei statue, the ship had taken position in the Tagus River after 20:00pm In the middle of the pool deck, a mast fitted with LED lights transformed the new building into a sailing ship: Individual continents and countries were presented one after the other in five different scenarios. A fireworks display followed after the baptismal motto and the obligatory smashing of the traditional champagne bottle on the ship's bow. Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises, also had a say. “Lisbon is the city of explorers - from here they started on their great adventure trips into the still unknown world. We also encourage our guests to discover new horizons with us. Therefore we are happy the conclusion of our first phase of expansion to celebrate here in Lisbon ”. And the company is not lacking in self-confidence either: "With seven cruise ships, including six new ships, TUI Cruises currently has the most modern and environmentally friendly fleet in the world".
After arriving in Las Palmas, the ship cruises on two different routes in the Canary Islands and Madeira. In summer, the new Mein Schiff 2 offers various Mediterranean routes from Palma de Mallorca. We wish you a good trip at all times.
