December 03, 2019 - SeaDream Yacht Club, the private Norwegian cruise company, and the DutchDamen Shipyards Group agreed to terminate the new SeaDream Innovation building planned for 2021 by mutual agreement.
SeaDream Innovation should be a sleek ship with 110 suites and every comfort. The new building project was planned as a hybrid ship. Electrically powered, it could have glided through sensitive driving areas for up to three hours. Large battery packs were provided for the environmentally friendly drive. A company brochure from September 2021 promised the guests a “yachting lifestyle” with a sleek ship design, extraordinary experiences, forward-looking service, 5 * kitchen, luxurious cabins and spacious outdoor areas.

All of this is old news. In dry words, the 2-ship shipping company explains that she and Damen will not pursue the new building project any further “in good faith” and “in mutual interest”. Reasons for stopping the construction project are not given. - However, so that no wrong thoughts arise, Andreas Brynestad, Executive Vice President of the SeaDream Yacht Club emphasizes that the company has been debt-free for many years and has the necessary equity to expand its fleet. In addition, the existing fleet is developing well. The company had record sales. The renovation of the suites on both ships was also proceeding as planned. Nothing will change. The SeaDream II suites will begin in spring 2020.
