Hellesylt in the Sunnylvsfjord

When the sun is shining, Hellesylt at Sunnylvsfjord looks like a place out of a picture book. The majestic fjord, the Langedalselva waterfall that divides the municipality and the picturesque mountains inspire the numerous visitors who arrive in the summer months.

Hellesylt - embedded in a beautiful landscape

Cruise ships often call at Hellesylt as a stopover for excursions to neighboring Geiranger. Cruise ships are less frequent during the day at Hellesylt's jetties.

Apart from the beautiful landscape, the place offers very little to tourists. If it weren't for the waterfall of the Langedalselva River. He is a sight. Between the bridges Hellesylt Bro and Høge Bro, masses of water tumble down over granite rocks in a mighty fall. When the snow melts, the river carries a lot of water. The photographers appreciate that.

From Hellesylt take the ferry to Geiranger

For ship guests who appreciate individual excursions, we recommend taking the ferry from Hellesylt to Geiranger. The highlights of the approximately one-hour journey through the narrow Geirangerfjord are the waterfalls of the “Seven Sisters” and the “Suitor” opposite them. Also of interest are the mountain farms built at dizzying heights and abandoned for decades. Since 2005 the fjord landscape is under the protection of the UNESCO world natural heritage. The sights on the edge of the Geirangerfjord are interpreted in several languages on board the ferry.

Taking the ferry is not a cheap pleasure. In 2020, a return trip of 470 NOK (45 euros) per person will be charged. The fact that the Geirangerfjord is one of the most beautiful fjords in the world speaks in favor of taking the ferry. And that alone is decisive in any weather.
