The origins of the small, Bremen-based tour operator Plantours cruises go back to 1980. At that time, a travel agency from Hanover founded a special tour operator for rail and boat trips. The company left the company nine years later plantours & Partner GmbH Hervor.
At that time, the focus was on selling exclusive trips. Also expedition cruises with the ocean-going ship MS Vistamar were offered.

1994 brought the move to Bremen, and the Italian ship chandler since 2006 Ligabue Corp. ltd. sole shareholder of plantours & partner. The last change was in 2012 when the brand name “Plantours Cruises” was introduced.
Ocean cruises
Ocean cruises have been enjoying growing popularity for a long time. The Plantours business model is primarily based on this. The company has been operating worldwide ocean cruises for more than 25 years. The MS Vistamar, designed for around 1990 guests, has been sailing for Plantours all year round since 300. In June 2012, the tour operator then took over the ocean-going cruise ship MS HAMBURGwhich had previously sailed under the Hapag-Lloyd flag for two years. The MS Hamburg is bigger than its predecessor; it holds 400 passengers.

River cruises
In the 1990s, the cruise offer was expanded to include river cruises. River cruises are now carried out with seven ships in full and partial charter on European rivers.

Plantours cruises today
Plantours ocean cruises bring passengers to unique destinations and make a significant contribution to the sales of the niche provider. Around 10.000 guests drove on the MS HAMBURG in 2016, which is also temporarily chartered out to other tour operators.
On board the MS HAMBURG, the predominantly German passengers get to know unique routes. The relatively small ship heads for exclusive destinations that large ships cannot, or only with difficulty, visit. It sails among others the Great Lakes of North America and Amazon. Other trips lead to the Antarctica, to Greenland or after Cuba. And if you can't go on using your own power at the destination, on-board Zodiacs are used.
The season of the European riverboats is much more limited compared to the ocean cruise. After all, well over 5.000 guests booked trips on board the river boats last year.
Plantours Cruises offer guests on board all ships high-quality border experiences and, above all, German as the language on board. In addition to the familiar and friendly atmosphere on board, this is above all the key to the company's long-term success.
