Celebrity Millennium - Day 15 - Singapore and Departure

After breakfast we check out. We store our luggage at the cruise terminal. We have to pick it up there by 18:30pm

Shopping paradise on Orchard Road

We take the already familiar subway to Orchard station. The first destination of our tour today is Orchard Road. This boulevard is all about shopping, shopping, shopping. One huge business follows another.

Clothes, shoes and accessories are sold on the floors from the ground floor up, every imaginable label is represented. The lower floors are mainly reserved for the food area.

We walk along Orchard Road for about a kilometer to the Dobi Ghaut subway station. Parallel to Orchard Road there are covered markets where you can get all kinds of food, from Spanish tapas to burgers. Variety and choice, all served very tempting. And here, too, we find the world-famous brands.

The bustling Chinatown

From the Dobi Ghaut station we take the subway again, this time to Chinatown. The contrast to Orchard Road is huge: from the well-kept luxury we come to colorful crowds and bustle. More than 70 percent of Singapore's population are of Chinese descent.

Today, Chinatown is particularly a tourist magnet: From Buddhist temples, to small and large shops, to a diverse restaurant scene, everything is on offer. Information about the past of this old quarter is also available at the Chinatown Heritage Center.

Farewell to Singapore

We end our Singapore stay on the Singapore River. We really liked it there. We stroll down the River Walk again and admire the valuable art objects, including by Dali and Botero.

Singapore is absolutely clean, the cleanest city we've ever seen. There is no graffiti, no chewing gum, no butts, no waste at all. We were in Singapore for two days and saw exactly two tiny bits of paper lying on the street.

In the afternoon we drive back to the cruise terminal. We freshen up, get our bags and take a taxi to the airport.

End of a dream trip

We haven't been particularly interested in travel destinations in the Far East. Bali, Hong Kong - that's it. However, we were impressed by this cruise from Hong Kong to Singapore with the extraordinary stops, especially in Vietnam. And the Celebrity Millennium was a suitable companion on this dream trip.
