Celebrity Reflection - Western Mediterranean - Day 12 - Civitavecchia

Author Anne Plau

Bye reflection

After breakfast we leave the Celebrity Reflection. Checking out works just as well as checking in. We are flying back to Germany today and will travel to Fiumicino Airport on our own. There is a shuttle bus to the port exit.

It's hectic there. In the port of Civitavecchia there are another three cruise ships: the Brilliance of the Seas, the Costa Diadema and the MSC Orchestra. And almost all passengers want to leave the port, either to go on a day trip, to go on another trip to Italy or to travel to the airport.

Ciao Civitavecchia

Despite the prevailing crowd and the supposed chaos at the port exit, everything goes very quickly there. We take a shared taxi to the train station and then take the train via Roma-Trastevere to Fiumicino. We have already been on the Italian train a few times. The trains were always clean and on time, the signage at the stations is good, the train staff is friendly and helpful. So this time too. Our trip to the airport went without any problems.

At the port exit, local providers offer transfers to Fiumicino Airport. In 2017, 20 EUR per person will be charged for this, which we think is an absolutely good price. The minibuses used make a good and reliable impression on us.

Transfers offered by the cruise line are much more expensive, where you will quickly be asked to pay 80 USD per person.

Summary

We enjoyed the Mediterranean cruise very much. The ports visited, regardless of whether we already knew them or whether they were new to us, are worth seeing, even on a second or even third visit. The Celebrity Reflection we can recommend in every respect. A floating hotel in pristine condition, well-kept and inviting, with enough space for the individual guest. In addition, well-trained, competent and friendly staff. On top of that, the weather played along. From the beginning of our tour to the end it was warm and sunny every day, with a clear view and mostly blue skies.

A downer: we love days at sea. And there were definitely too few on this cruise.
