Karl WP Beyer Messina, the gateway to Sicily, has more than 240.000 inhabitants. The city is very conveniently located on the northeastern tip of Sicily. It is the economic and commercial center and at the same time the administrative center of the Province of Messina. Messina is also a university city with 11 faculties. The ship docks in the center. You disembark and you are in the middle of the city. The cathedral with its bell tower and the largest mechanical clock in the world, the Orion fountain in front of the cathedral, the pilgrimage church Santuario di Montalto and the Sacrario di Cristo Re are all worth seeing.
